Frequently asked questions.
Can I use out-of-network insurance benefits for therapy?
Yes! If you have out-of-network insurance coverage, you can often use those benefits to help pay for therapy sessions. You’ll pay for each session at the time of your appointment, and I’ll provide a detailed monthly “super bill” you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. This makes it easier to get reimbursed for 60-80% of your therapy costs.
How do out-of-network benefits work?
Most insurance companies ask you to upload your super bill online or send it by mail. After submission, they’ll typically send you a reimbursement check. To understand your specific coverage, it’s a great idea to call the Member Services phone number on the back of your insurance card. This way, you know exactly how to file your claim.
What if I can’t afford the full therapy rate? Do you offer a sliding scale?
I understand that therapy can be a financial stretch. That’s why I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who need reduced fees. If you feel my full rate isn’t affordable, please reach out — I’m happy to discuss options. If a sliding scale spot isn’t available, I can refer you to trusted clinicians who may better fit your budget or help you find an in-network provider through www.psychologytoday.com.
Can I do therapy with you if I don’t live in Florida?
Due to licensing rules, I can only work with clients who live in Florida. Therapy is state-licensed, so to ensure ethical and legal care, you must reside in Florida to begin therapy with me, whether via telehealth or in person.
What if I’m unsure if you’re the right therapist for me?
That’s totally normal! Before scheduling your first session, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. This is a no-pressure conversation where you can share why you’re seeking therapy, learn about my approach, ask questions, and we can talk about availability, rates, and insurance. This helps us both decide if working together feels right.
What happens after our intro call if we decide to move forward?
Once we agree that we’re a good fit, we’ll schedule your first official therapy session. Before that, I’ll send you a few simple intake forms to complete — this helps me understand your history and goals so we can dive right into the work during our sessions.
What should I expect during the first therapy session?
The first session is all about getting to know you in a safe, judgment-free space. I’ll ask questions to better understand your story and listen deeply. Together, we’ll set clear goals for what you want to achieve in therapy. Therapy sessions give you a place to vent, gain new perspectives, learn helpful coping skills, and sometimes even share some laughs. Healing is a journey, and I’ll support you every step of the way.
How often will we meet for therapy sessions?
Most clients start with weekly sessions for at least the first three weeks. This consistent schedule helps build momentum and leads to faster progress. As we move forward, we can adjust how often we meet to best support your healing journey.
How long will I need therapy?
My trauma-informed, person-centered approach means therapy is focused on your goals — not an endless process. Many clients meet their goals within 3-6 months and feel ready to move forward. Some prefer ongoing support and continue therapy longer for continued growth and processing.
